Over multiple workshops and several months, Inspired Youth built up positive professional relationships with a group of inspirational volunteers based at Change Grow Live in Manchester. Having developed ideas around the subject of “affected others” the group harnessed the insight of their own experience to develop a rap with Kritikal Powers inspired by the groups own poetry and accompanied by a song written and performed by Jake Mattison, The song and video explore the negative impact of addition beyond the individual but also the transformative power of recovery and how it rebuilds relationships and affects the people you love in a positive way.

Shaped by the groups experience, ideas and insights, a vision and script was developed by Inspired Youth inspired by the rap and song. Each volunteer was cast in a role within the dramatic music video, most of them with little or no previous acting or performing experience. This did not deter them and each person fully committed to their own character and their own characters narrative within the story.

The shoot took place over 2 days and scenes were shot and captured by Liam Powers. The story revolves around a young carer who tirelessly cares for his little sister and his dad who is in the grips of addiction. Ollie (the character) has battled his own demons and is on a mission to promote the power of recovery not just to the people he loves but his whole community.

The team spirit was amazing and everyone including child actor Freya had a fun experience. The team pulled together towards a shared vision and it was amazing to be part of. The Domino Effect Launches in Spetember in Manchester and will be available to see for free online.
